Rep Yourself. New York Fashion Week.

The last time I was at New York Fashion Week, I was an intern. What did I wear? What they told me to. None of this fun stuff.
It was a small black tee with stark white lettering. WWD right across my chest. There was to be no confusion I was only there...
...to hand out the programs. To some that may not count, but to hand programs out to fashion's darlings made me dizzy with delight. Chalk it up to small town girl syndrome, but I thought I was the cat's pajamas.
This year I'm headed back and this time as me. You see it was twofold, that simple cotton tee declared I was with Conde Nast. It was safe. No pressure to accessorize. To cleverly layer print and pattern.
This time I get to bring it. I'm almost decided on the fact that I'm going to wear my Society Social Hostess Gown. It may seem utterly ridiculous to float about in more than 6 yards of floor length chiffon, maybe even in broad daylight...
...but on that first Fall day in a new to me big city, I do recall excitedly handing pink haired Patricia Field a program. Something tells me she wouldn't mind at all, and that's enough justification for me.

My Little Piece of NYC. Founnnd It!!

Guess what, darlings? We found and signed for our NYC apartment last week! It's been such a crazy month, and I can't really afford to lose focus, but how could I not with these decorating fancies dancing through my head? I imagine our place will be a delicious mix of old and new, modern and vintage. Like this...

...that type of juxtaposition drives me mad in all kinds of good ways. I would also love to incorporate elements of what Cassandra calls "relaxed glam." I'm utterly enamored with the idea of unpretentious glamour. Love eyes, I tell you.

Of course, I'll throw in one of my bar carts. Duh. Just so necessary. Can you envision the holiday socials I'll throw? And the white blanket of snow (before it turns to brown slush haha) that my guests will have to trudge through after it magically falls on the island of Manhattan? I can :)

Would you like a peek? These images are representative of the listings in my building, courtesy of craigslist since I haven't seen it in the flesh. (No joke.)

What do you think? Not too new with lots of character.

Right up my alley. I adore the exposed brick, high ceilings, and warm, worn hardwoods. And the molding. I  love the molding. Wouldn't you be distracted too? Send design ideas my way. They'll help me not to waste more time on Pinterest ;)

Week Ending

Good morning loves! It's been quite sometime since I've posted on a Saturday. Reporting live from my pillows and fluffy down comforter. Laptop, September issues, and a steaming cup of coffee :) Do you have plans this weekend? Mine will be thankfully quiet. Working, Packing up pieces of the past four years here in Charlotte and soaking up every last bit with my best friends.

SPLIT. PERSONALITY.

Our current place echoes the materials and color palette of this space from Elle France...
...dramatic no? We just might (cross your fingers!) have found our little piece of NYC, and I'm already daydreaming of the design switch-up I'm going to pull big city style. My only problem is that I seriously love all things beautiful. The decisions are painstaking. Would you go with designed to the nines like this "white + color" space?
Or would you keep it down to earth and familiar?

Cocktail O'Clock & New Blog Obsession

Today is a special cocktail o'clock because like many of you, I was introduced via Rue to a fabulous new foodie blog. If not for the insane, original photography and fantastic food styling...

...Spoon Fork Bacon, will win you over with a slew of mouth-watering recipes. I'm not only already obsessed, but I was immediately drawn to this Kiwi Capiroska...

...that I thought perfect for sharing on a Cocktail O'Clock Monday.

Head on over! I guarantee your tummy will grumble with enthusiastic approval. Cheers to a new week, loves!

My Little Piece of NYC

The search continues for our little piece of NYC. Over the weekend we stumbled upon an apartment that is definitely worth seeing twice. It's quintessential New York- exposed brick possibly pre-war which would be my dream. It has gorgeous worn hardwoods (forget the parquet!), marvelous molding, and even a fireplace. Decorating dreams are already dancing through my head! I must know, as a renter, would you paint darlings?

Today's Mantra

So I successfully uprooted a good ol' southern boy. (He grew up basically in the middle of a cow pasture. Literally.) Plopped him smack dab in the middle of the best city in the world. And I couldn't be more excited about our adventures to come! Cheers to an adventurous, surprise filled week!

We Met @Twitter

Tonight I have a date. @societysocial meets @MrGWHunting. I have to admit, I'm slightly nervous. Meeting new people never makes me nervous, but I've never had a social media to real world rendezvous. (Just kidding. It was NYC awesome :) He's insanely talented and works the kind of magic that makes me dizzy in the head.

Holy. Awesome. Seeing stars yet?

Well Nate Berkus surely saw them.
Any guy who is bold enough to take iconic Schumacher Chiang Mai and dream up a way to WEAR it is my kind of guy.

I'm going to risk putting my foot in my mouth and say that our friendship is meant to be. Tips on what to wear when meeting such an illustrious tastemaker? Yikes!

My Little Piece of NYC

Fawn Galli Interior Design, Designer's Residence, Brooklyn, NY

Aside from all the Society Social nonsense, (is anyone as tired of hearing about it as I am?!), there's just one more tiny little detail that has turned my life into a 3-ring fiasco. You can probably figure it out by the title of this post, but let's just say I finally feel like my lucky stars decided to pull through :) This leads to my new series, My Little Piece of NYC, where I'll share West Village Wonders and many more. Hope you don't mind apartment hunting with me big city style!
