Weekend Picture Book: What To Do in NYC
Kick off the weekend with a boozy lunch at the bustling La Piazza at Eataly. You might have to hover around to snag a spot at the standing tables, but the communal atmosphere always produces a good time.
We suggest the Grande Piatta Misto Di Salumi & Formaggi, at least two glasses of the Prosecco NV Flor and making friends with the chatty group situated beside you. Then head to the shops around Flat Iron. Cheat on your shopping diet at Zara and blame it on your best friend.
Go for the fried chicken or shrimp and grits at Peels and definitely start with Buddha's Prayer, a cocktail of gin and vodka that is as stiff as it is tasty. Alan likes their classic g&t.
Continue the party at a favorite speakeasy, PKNY in this instance, and order cocktails bigger than your head. If you don't find something you like, the friendly bartenders are happy to whip you something up off menu.
Go in search of New York pizza-- Arturo's for a quaint, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with live jazz...
...and Grimaldi's in the old Limelight Church if you're more concerned about the pizza than the ambiance.
Head to SoHo for a walkabout and staring contests you can't win...
...and to raid shops you can't find anywhere but in NYC. A new favorite, Piperlime's first brick and mortar on Wooster Street.
Remember at WTC and then to lighten the mood, stop in to Century 21 for deals you can't pass up.
Take in the sweeping views of my favorite city at Top of the Rock...
...then take a bff portrait! Amber I roomed together all four years in college and she came to visit all the way from Beaufort, NC:)
p.s. If you're ever visiting the city and need a local list, I have one about a mile long. It includes Alan and my favorites at each of our favorite spots that I would be happy to share. Hope y'all had a great weekend! xo
p.s.s. Amber come back!

Eat cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes on Mercer Street or order at least half a dozen to-go and eat them for breakfast...snacks...dinner...breakfast. They come in pretty pink boxes. Who can resist?

What a fab weekend! Eataly is a must and Top of the Rock? Yes, please! I always recommend my tourist vising friends to go there instead of the Empire State Building. A much better experience indeed!
the food looks delish!
