So Necessary: Weekend kicks

Hi lovies!!! It's Friday! We made it!
I started off this glorious (70's perfect weather) morning by stopping by a few of my daily reads and was inspired by Heart Charlie and her city chic coolness to re-visit Theory's Style project!
I recently bought a pair of white slip-ons from Urban that are so perfect for casual outings around the city, but I really want a pair of snazzy Oxfords! I've been on the fence about them for months, but immediately wanted to go out and snag a pair after seeing these effortless looks!! The models look fabulous, but can I get a smile please?! Sheesh! Will I finally make the leap for some Oxfords this weekend? What do you think darlings? So necessary?

In My Cup of Te: NYC

In New York City, a yellow cab is simply a wave away,

Nights magically turn into mornings in a blink of an eye,

Around every corner there is a possibility of discovering a piece of yourself- one you may not have known was there,

The daily commute, if you stop to pay attention for a moment, can be Grand,

Happy Hour is all day everyday and in the form of wonderful friends and minty mojitos in Greenwich Village,

The most wonderful things can be found in the most unexpected places,

And if you're smart enough to keep your eyes open, "The Time Is Always Now!"

Do you have a love affair with a certain place like me?
Wherever you are, have a good day lovies! :)

Well Good Morning Marc Jacobs!

I hear ya sister...Must we really stay inside?!
I woke up this morning groggy, stuffy, and beyonnnnd annoyed that I'm stuck inside in this crazy warm weather!!! Why, you ask? That icky, yellow poo pollen powder, that sticks to everything like white on rice, sends me into a sneezing, sniffling, coughing allergy flurry that lasts for a day from the time it begins :( :( Zyrtec, you fail me!!!
Not long after I reluctantly resigned to another day inside, I found a little goodie in my gmail inbox- a Marc by Marc Jacobs lookbook! I adore Marc and often frequented his accessories shop (perfect for thin student wallets!) in the West Village...you know the one across the street from Magnolia Bakery? Yes, I most likely stopped for a cupcake too! But anyways, he's always been at the top of my list so I naturally perked up after perusing (I actually manage to see through my itchy allergy eyes) all the perfectly stylized Marc by Marc looks!

Oh Marc! For a brief moment you made me forget about the minor fact that I can barely breathe through my nose!! Hope he brought a little joy to your morning too :) Too bad, in this case, my budget fails me!!
xoxo darlings!

Welcome to The Wickliffe House. Charleston, SC

The newlyweds' First Dance

Hi loves! I'm back!! I apologize for the brief hiatus! The hub and I were in Charleston during Easter weekend for a good friend's wedding, and it took me til' today to recover from the festivities. I was on good (great) wifey duty Saturday night due to the fact that the H cannot contain himself when he gets around his best buds, and by not containing I mean a spill over a la whiskey on the rocks. Let's just say there were pit stops on the way back to the hotel...not fun ones! Basically I earned several gold stars ;)
The wedding we attended was sweet southern perfection- full of old world charm, down home comfort food, and effortless elegance. I was most impressed with the reception at the Wickliffe House- a 19th century Greek revival complete with stately columns, intricate plasterwork, and rich woodwork. We feasted on shrimp and grits, bbq, loaded mashed potatoes to name a few then danced the night away on the front lawn under stately trees that glowed with countless paper lanterns!
Here are some pics of my own and some from around the web (since I was busy toasting D & L!) to give you an idea of this ahhh-maze-ing venue!
Welcome!

If I had it to do all over again this would be the place to be!

Vintage settee and antique cocktail table equals a fabulous photo opp. for our friends Pat and Heath!

Well thought out detail in every corner.

Main dining room

I adore ceiling medallions!

I didn't quite do this venue justice so for more on the Wickliffe, check out this wedding over at Style Me Pretty!
Until next time darlings!

Wedding Weekend Roadtrip!

I'm off to another wedding, and this time to Charleston, South Carolina! I'm so excited as I have never been, and I've only ever heard incredible things about this old southern town supposedly full of charm, personality, and great shopping!!

This weekend I'll leave you with some of my favorite quotes coupled with inspiring, feel-good photography! Without further adieu...

"All the sorrow and trouble of this world is caused by unhappy people, therefore, being happy is not merely a self-preserving and self benefiting act, but also a generous gift to the world." -Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love

Have a fabulous weekend darlings! I hope it's full of joy! ;)
Cheers,
Rox

Food Adventures: Roasted Red Pepper and Parm Pitas and Grilled Peaches

My plate before I cleaned it!!

So last night per usual, I had a fabulous dinner with my girls- Mediterranean themed! Kristin hosted this time, and since it was a ridiculous 76 degrees yesterday, we decided on a grill out! I packed up my little H. Chapelier, yes camo and pink, and we all toted our goodies to the fountain/pond area in her complex!

DRINKS
Once the grill was fired up, we took a moment to catch up over delicious sparkling pinot grigio with hints of apple and pear! K and I, since we're sisters, just happened to buy the same brand so we had plenty to go around!
**Check out my cool new ice bucket/wine cooler from Meg 'n' Mike!!! :) Presents for no apparent reason make me feel special!!! OH, and yes, we snuck some ice cream in for dessert!

APPS
Meg found an app. recipe, Roasted Red Pepper and Parm pitas, that she wasn't sure she'd have time to make after work so I volunteered to buy the ingredients and help her out! Super easy and super tasty!! Saute the peppers with garlic, brush the pitas with olive oil, paprika, oregano, s & p. Broil. Add the sauteed peppers and tons of parm half way through and voila!!! mmm

MAIN
While we lingered over our pitas, Leah manned the grill with her delicious chicken and shrimp kabobs! The chicken was marinated in yogurt and exotic tasting spices like cumin and turmeric plus staples like poultry season and s&p.

SIDE
Kristin whipped up the most perfect side for our shiskers! Cucumber, tomato, red onions, feta, and yummy olives from the Harris Teeter's olive bar- like I said the most perfect complement!
DESSERT
I was originally going to make Giada's strawberry and peach crumble, but seeing as we wanted to go light, I went straight for grilled peaches! I don't believe in restricting yourself all too much, let's be serious I'm guilty of being overly self indulgent at times ;), so I added a small dollop of the most intoxicating vanilla bean ice cream by Starbucks! To top it all off I toasted some almonds on the grill! Scrumptious and not too guilt inducing!

Dessert breakdown!
1. Toss 4 halved peaches in brown sugar and pure vanilla extract.

2. Grill for 3 minutes on the skin side and 1 to 2 minutes on raw side or until desired grill marks are reached! The grill really brings out the natural sweetness that is also enriched by the vanilla and brown sugar mmm :)

3. The recipe called for toasted almonds, but since we were outside I threw my chopped almonds on the grill instead of running up three flights of stairs to the oven! You may call it lazy, but I call it resourceful!! I felt so Bobby Flay, and they turned out perfectly!

Dinner was a ridiculously delectable success, and we had the best time working together and catching up!! Before heading home happy and satisfied, Kristin surprised us with Easter goodies! Who couldn't use a chocolate rabbit? Too sweet- literally!
Hope your girlfriends are as fabulous as mine! ;)
Til next time darlings!!
p.s. No photo creds! HA! I finally took my own!
