Millinery Marvelous

{Audrey in Givenchy, Funny Face 1956}

Are you new to my Millinery Marvelous posts? I'm dying for hats to make a real come back. They used to be much more a part of daily ready-to-wear than they are now. Maybe I just have a thing for revivals?

Millinery Marvelous

I tend to choose over-the-top, brightly colored hats for the "Millinery Marvelous" series like this shocking orange beauty and this widest of the wide brims, but summer's hot hot heat has pushed light, breezy, and effortless to the top of my style vocabulary. Easy style and fresh-faced make-up, enter summer!

Millinery Marvelous

I have a thing for hats. I heart the classics and have a special affinity for the slightly ridiculous. This wonderfully white and truly refreshing look from Ralph Lauren's Summer 2011 look book is definitely fit for the Millinery Marvelous!

Millinery Marvelous

YSL circa 1962

With the Kentucky Derby and the Royal Wedding slated for back to back weekends, I can't imagine that hats will have a brighter spotlight than now. For me when choosing hats, I like to stick to this Marilyn Monroe quote that has also inspired my new baby business Society Social, "It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring!" Don't you agree? ;) My millinery marvelous wish list begins and ends with Royal family favorites Philip Treacy and Vivien Sheriff.
