Legwear Love

My dears, Fall is nigh (thank God, my favorite season) and whether we want to or not, it is time to slow the summer shopping and stock up on items for those brisk Autumn nights.  I predicted the fact that you may need some extra inspiration for your fabulous Fall wardrobes because after all, this is what they call the dog days of summer, so I gathered a few legwear lovelies perfect for layering to get you on your way...
Shorts for now AND later, just add tights
Booties and flowers couldn't be more sweet
Pretty flowers, killer studs, and sexy legwear.  Betty Draper wouldn't dare.
Better than a tat- commitment, pain free, and easy removal when you're over it

A Perky Glow...

So besides the fact my trumped spirits have kept me from writing you lovely folks, I've also been very busy with a best friend's wedding!  As all the bridesmaids primped and groomed, I received quite a fabulous compliment on my "glow."  I quickly responded with, "Honey, that's called my skin is oily!"  I'd like to think that it was half my skin condition and the other half this...
In two mini steps and 5 minutes, you've exfoliated the dead skin cells away and loaded up on Vitamin C!  I believe smoother than a baby's bottom is fitting for how your skin will feel!

I used to be a big fan of monthly microdermabrasion, but seeing as my piggy bank has shrunk by epic proportions and dear Mr.Benjamin Franklin seems to have gotten lost in there, I have made the switch to Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel.  $65 will get you several microderm substitutes, and I promise you'll have a radiant glow befitting of the sun or at least like Eva.  Blinding, I tell you.

Along with all the fabulous festivities this weekend, which included a crazy late nite water slide extravaganza at some random hotel in b.f.e., there were also slumber parties!  I love love love waking up with your best girlfriends and simply rolling over in your pj's to rehash the ridiculousness of the prior night's shenanigans.  I guess some people don't find my "It's a glorious morning!" and "Don't you want to say hello to the day?!" quite as infectious because I'm pretty positive I earned myself this...
{via Summers in Paris}

Thanks to Summers in Paris for the laugh this morning, and along with the rest of "coffee cup" #407, for putting up with my inability to fall back asleep.  I promise I tried to sit still for at least 30 mins, okay maybe 15.

Rather than attempt to kill you...

 Hi loves!  Sorry for the mini hiatus.  Lately, I've been feeling like this...

And not my normal self like this...
{via}
Rather than drag you lovelies down,  I decided to keep it to myself and only return when my writing didn't read like a monotone professor attempting to kill you with his lack of enthusiasm.  Thank goodness for best friends (one in particular who yesterday who picked up my spirits!) because I'm back and ready to share my latest loves on beauty, food, travel, and fashion.  Stay tuned!

When life hands you lemons...

In light of the fact that lavender is known for it's soothing, calming qualities, I vote the saying should be, "When life hands you lemons, make Lavender Lemonade."  Or you could just go straight for the hard liquor.
Among the things that conjure up summer, lemonade is one that's high on my list.  I love the classic- you know the kind you would've sold for $.25 at a makeshift stand, hoping to make a few dollars that would decidedly make you 'rich!!"- but I also believe that putting a spin on the classics can be just as refreshing.  Enter, Lavender Lemonade.  This updated bev is gonna cost ya a little more than $.25, but it is 2010 and lavender is slightly more sophisticated than say the striped bendy straw the 8 year old version of you would've subbed for a garnish.  Feel like getting a little punchy?  I imagine a hit of a citrus spirit would do the trick!

 Lavender Lemonade
* 2 cups sugar
* 5 sprigs lavender (stems and buds), plus additional for garnish
* 2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 10 lemons)
* 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 4 limes)

Directions:
In a large saucepan, bring one gallon of water and the sugar to a boil. Remove from heat; add 7 lavender sprigs and lemon and lime juices. Cool to room temperature, strain, and chill. Serve on ice, with additional lavender for garnish.

Enjoy! (And feel free to add striped bendy straw if you must)

My Cup of Te: Bright Summer Polish: Shrimply Divine

This summer I've been addicted to Sally Hansen's new line of Complete Salon Manicure.  It has a fantastic brush that makes application a breeze and has sent my OPI go-to straight to the sidelines.  Yes, folks, $1 cheaper was all that it took and for $7.99 you can have your pick of fabulous summer brights too!  My nails have been everything from blue, teal, and lavender, and now Shrimply Divine.  Pics of the former soon to come!

I just slathered caviar on my face...

As of late, sleep has escaped me, stress will not leave me, and if I'm being entirely too dramatic for my own good, I must declare that I'm suffering from adult acne.  Bobbi Brown concealer, which I swear could cover up a tat, seems entirely useless when compared to the more appealing option of a brown paper bag.  I stood, looking in the mirror last night, wondering what I needed to avoid said bag, and frantically searched my drawers for some kind of solution.

(You see, I haven't broken out in awhile and so was ill-prepared for the latest situation.)

I found the first Sephora sample I could get my hands on.  Hmm, Skin Caviar, sounds lush

I immediately busted it open and proceeded to generously slather the contents all over my face.

Luckily it instantly gave my skin a radiant, healthy glow versus a rash because only after did I decide it to be a good idea to look up this so-called Skin Caviar and why exactly I put it on my face without prior research.  Just as promised, "From the moment of application, your complexion will look radiantly alive..."

Ahh-maze-ing.  A product that actually does what it says.

Instantly I made up my mind that the little tub of miracle cream was going to be mine...until, I saw the jaw-dropping price tag...$390 for 50 ML and $710 for 100.  Really?  Can I live?!  Looks like I will be passing on the caviar and ordering Olay.  At least until my preciously preserved sample runs out.

Betty Badass

Tonight's activities consisted of catching up on one of my favorite series, Mad Men, followed by browsing a few of my daily Cup of Te reads. I stumbled across a "Mad Men Yourself" app here, and I couldn't resist Betty-fying myself especially since I always die over how fabulous the cast looks in their 1960's get-ups .  Although she's quite unpredictable and moody, I find Betty Draper to be particularly bad-ass in the scene when she nonchalantly busts out a shotgun, cigarette in mouth, and unloads on a couple of pesky birds all on her manicured front lawn, and of course looking smashing all the while.  Would you ever?! How's that for housewife?  Who would you be?  Sultry Joan?  Park Ave Princess Trudy?
