28 Days of Things I Love: Vintage Vogue (Ridiculousness)

Catherine Deneuve for Vogue, January 1968 by David Bailey
Tatiana, Mary Rose and Camels Picnic in Morocco by William Klein 1958
Phyllis Gordon Takes Her Cheetah for a Walk, London, 1939
Oh just a day in the life! These women have got it all figured out. The epitome of one of my favorite sayings beautifully captured in some of my favorite photos. I'll take whatever they're having!

More (ridiculous) vintage vogue here.

28 Days of Things I Love: A Good Mantra

I'm forever repeating different mantras to myself as if they are magic spells that will instantly transform any situation into something wonderful-- somehow they help me concentrate and focus. I love this one so much, "Act Like A Lady, Work Like A Boss" that I put it on a pencil. Gold Engraved Pencils that will hopefully help me write out a few groundbreaking ideas for Society Social ;) They make for a pretty cheery and motivational workspace too! Do you have a favorite mantra? In what situations do you find yourself repeating it?

Here are a few of my favorites and if you'd like a set of your own "magic" pencils you can design a set of 24 here for only $7.50! Love them.

28 Days of Things I Love: Sleepwear

Easy little nighties are my most favorite to wear to bed (post wedding, remember? ;) so long as it's not subzero degrees out, in which case, you will find me in a really sexy combination of sweats, hiking socks, and worn long sleeve tees.

Daily

Sweet

Sleep(frolic)wear

On a semi-related note, will you be scooping up anything special for Valentine's Day? We don't really celebrate it and Alan prefers I sleep in scrubby ol' tees anyways, so silly! I think it could be fun to do a nightie exchange with the girls, with lots of wine and chocolates, of course. What do you think? Would you come over? :)

28 Days of Things I Love: Large Scale Art

Art on a grand scale can dramatically anchor an entire room or even make a small space feel bigger. It's a bold move but when done right it can make such a beautiful statement. I think in our next place we're going to have to go big or go home :) And on that note, hope everyone is getting off to a great start!

Grandiose Art:
I need the first one.
Second row, first one on the left.
Pink & Yellow or maybe just all of them.

The boyfriend jean plus thin tee.

28 Days of Things I Love: Bolognese

On Thursday night I had the best Bolognese I've ever had...in my life. This is not an unfounded or frivolous statement. You see, Bolognese is one of my love list toppers, right there along with my go-to color, French 75s, my husband... and thus we've been all over the city carb loading in search of the perfect Bolognese. We found it on the corner of 26th & Park served with handmade trofie, veal ragu, and sheep's milk herb ricotta. It was so decadent that I couldn't eat it all, but not to worry I had it the next day for breakfast. I am not ashamed.
Our two favorite spots for Bolognese where they may or may not know us:
Bread & Tulips (above)
Cola's (classic. the perfect neighborhood joint.)

28 Days of Things I Love: The Messy Ponytail

I've always wanted to give this a shot, blogging for a month straight about all the things I love. Here goes with the first on my love list-- the messy ponytail.
It's perfect for the busy gal or for someone who's not entirely fond of washing (& drying & styling) the hair. I have to say I'm much more fond of dry shampoo ;)
