Weekend Picture Book (kind of)

I was a bad blogger and left the trusty camera at home for almost all of last weekend's events, but after all, I was busy with an anniversary :)

The Cocktail Cart Cache

From the stripes to exposed light bulbs this space in Park Slope, Brooklyn is just my cup of te(a)!
Pattern play with pops of pink and yellow- cheers to that!

Sleek and polished or bright and quirky? I love my cocktails in every shape and form! What about you darlings?

Stylin' and Profilin'

Can you guess who?
Not one, but two lovely ladies!

With the official Society Social shoot just weeks away, it's getting harder and harder to contain my exponentially sky-rocketing excitement. Today I thought I'd reveal the dynamic duo who will be beautifyin' my bar carts. These two lovely ladies are truly blazin' the trail! You can spot them everywhere from Brides Mag to Style Me Pretty and more. A fave of mine is their shoot with the illustrious Dallas Shaw.

To learn more, see B + K's site. And stay tuned for a sneak peek of our fantastic photographer!

Python Pretty

I'm on a special mission for Society Social. I've been searching high and low, mill after mill, swatch after swatch, thankfully not for the real thing ;) Python is just so wickedly pretty, I most certainly must find us an in-house snake! Would you dare darlings?

A Dose of Daydream Glam

If I had my way, I'd float around in a floor length kaftan all day with my hair piled hapzazardly high atop my head while murmuring silly things like, why yes dahhh-ling, of course I'll have another glass of champagne. But then there's this little thing called work...daydream in progress ;)

Stretch Break

Wouldn't it be so terribly lovely to fill your lungs with fresh, salty air and stretch to the high heavens on your tippiest of toes?

Pinning is Winning

The Live Sparkly Pinboard defines Society Social's daily mantra! spark·ly adj. spark·li·er, spark·li·est
a. Giving off tiny flashes of light; glittery: a dress with sparkly sequins.
b. Lively; vivacious: a sparkly personality!
The "It's Better to be Absolutely Ridiculous than Absolutely Boring" Pinboard serves up spirited Society Social Suggestions! ...Why don't you fill your pretty teacups with sprinkles and champagne?
The Life is a Celebration Pinboard reminds you that everyday is a celebration and features fantastical parties and delectable treats!

Cocktail O'Clock

Ginger Soju- yikes and yes, I'll have another!

I had my first official bout with soju in NYC's K-town and then had my fill of it in Seoul- twice. Have you sampled this fiercely ferocious spirit? Beware! He's not for the faint of heart. As for me, there's nothing like making a stiff drink decidely stiffer ;) Just add a splash of sake and ginger for a kick!

For the Ginger Soju recipe, see Society Social's Vault of Tasty Tipples!

Marilyn & My First Painting

"Marilyn Monroses" at Cozamia Modern Art
My attempt to paint Chuck Close style. Can you tell who she is? Probably not ;) Estella Warren.

The Marilyn "Monroses" print from Cozamia Modern Art is inspiring a whole room in my head. The largest size is 16x20; I really need it to be the size of a living room wall and hung in my pre-war loft. The color palette would echo this Serena and Lily bedroom and I would rock Hollywood Regency à la Wearstler. What do you think? Would you want to come over for cocktails?

p.s. Has an artist ever inspired you to paint? I attempted to paint Chuck Close style years and year ago and am thinking about doing it again. It's really such fun to paint all those little doodles in each square!

I. DIE.

I stopped dead in my tracks, rather dead in my wine-flavored sip, when I saw this editorial spread in the May edition of Vogue Russia.

I hate to repeat an overdone zoe-ism, but the fabulousness of this shoot is seriously making me ill, killing me in the best kind of way so without further excuses-

- I.DIE.

So much so that I've decided I'm adding "dress like this next time I go to the beach" to my to do list.

I imagine I'll get many strange looks on a Carolina coast, but I probably won't see them...

...because I'll most likely be blinded by my own over-the-top glamour. Better get a bigger pair of sunnies ;)

Everything I want to be in life, I see before my eyes- vibrant, bold, strong, unique, confident...so fabulous that it's criminal.

Charm & Whimsy

Have you ever wanted to rush off and throw a party so badly in your life? I've been totally possessed by this over-the-top charming and utterly whimsical table setting. The color palette is killing me with its awesomeness and that darling baby horse is basically begging me to come play. I'm thinking I would serve mini cupcakes and rose-infused cocktails! What about you?

Golden Girl or Golden Goddess?

Have you ever sported a monokini? I usually go for an eensy teensy, teeny weeny bikini, but I do have one, hot hot pink might I add, cut out monokini that I snagged from American Apparel. I wore it with a criminally large golden yellow hat and even larger sunnies. I didn't feel "golden girl" at all (sorry, Blanche) actually more like golden goddess! So darlings, have you? Would you rock the monokini?

Are you Jenna or Jo?

What do you see when you look in the Cocktail Cart Cache- romantically glam or perfectly classic? An intoxicating elderflower cocktail? A no-fuss gin and tonic? These cocktail carts belong to two "I want to be her" ladies. Can you tell which one is J.Crew's Jenna and super blogger Joanna of A Cup of Jo? Which J are you?

Cocktail O'Clock

We adore our classics with a twist which is why we hold a special place in our heart for this rhubarb gin and tonic. Fun, right? What's your favorite spin on a classic?

We've logged the recipe in Society Social's Vault of Tasty Tipples -> See here!

Femme Fatale

This past weekend A and I watched The Tourist. From her make-up and outfits to her wickedly cool persona, Angelina was totally drop dead. The next day A even asked me to wear eyeliner like "Elise." These illustrations by Jacqueline Bissett reminded me of her femme fatale nature. How do you play up the charm and mystery? My "how" comes in the form of Urban Decay Zero ;)

Flying High

This sure beats looking like a disheveled grease ball after a 13 hour flight. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say she was not served seafood delight for dinner and made to put her tray table up and seat back in an upright position before landing.

Are you traveling somewhere fabulous soon? What will you wear? Do tell!
